INSEAD Alumni Balance in Business Awards 2023

“What a privilege it has been to lead the INSEAD Alumni Balance in Business Awards launch. It’s been an 18 months’ journey of hard work, connecting with people, forging partnerships and above all learning, I’m thrilled that companies from across a wide range of sectors are working towards improving gender balance, introducing new policies, coming up with innovative initiatives and the impact is being measured and is visible! And more importantly, they have come forward and are willing to share their stories. I truly believe that only through joining forces and collaborating will we make a real difference and create a fairer business environment.We are a community of INSEAD alumni volunteers, who have come together with the aim of engaging and inspiring current and future leaders on why Balance in Business matters, how to implement it and to recognise the value it can create.

Research shows that organisations with a good gender balance in their senior leadership teams perform better; and in an increasingly crowded and competitive marketplace those that promote diversity and have an inclusive culture are able to attract and retain the best talent.  Through the Balance in Business Initiative, we aim to support the next generation of leaders and, more broadly, develop leadership competencies on gender balancing which is fast becoming a critical skill. 

We launched our Impact Mentoring programme, offering a dual perspective in 2018 as a legacy to the iW50 celebration, the 50-year anniversary of the first INSEAD women MBA graduates. The mission was to improve gender balance, an individual at a time. Thus far, we had 280 women, mid to senior positions go through the programme staying on track and achieving their goals.

In the last 5 years we have run a series of open events raising awareness of the importance of a gender balanced organisations and sharing the stories of those who are leading the way through innovative initiatives.

Today we are proud to announce the winners of the Balance in Business Awards 2023. Our 10 award winning companies have come forward and are sharing their journey with us. Our mission is to improve gender, an organisation at a time.
